In order to program keys, receive codes or order theft-relevant parts, you will need to be a part of NASTF's Secure Registry. This process will require you to submit an application with supporting documentation. Once you are approved by NASTF you will obtain your own Vehicle Security Credentials, also known as a VSP ID, VSC, or LSID.
To begin registering for NASTF's SDRM (Secure Data Release Model), first navigate to https://sdrm.nastfsecurityregistry.org/dotorg/landing
From here, click the blue 'Apply for SDRM' button under SDRM Credential.
Once at the registration screen, enter the email to be associated with your account and create your password for the SDRM 2.0 system.
After registering, check your inbox for an email with the subject Your application for a NASTF VSP Credential Verify Email from no-reply@nastfsecurityregistry.org. If you cannot find the message in your inbox, please check your Spam/Junk Folder.
Inside the NASTF VSP Credential Verify Email, click Confirm Email. After confirming your email, click Login.
To fully login to the SDRM 2.0 system, you will need to download the Twilio Authy Two-Factor Authenticator app. The Authy app's security code lets the OEM sites know that you are properly credentialed once your account is active in the SDRM 2.0 system.
Follow the steps below based on your cellphone's platform to install Authy on your device.
Android
- Open Google Play
- Search for Authy
- Install the Authy 2-Factor Authentication application
- Open the application
- Enter the country code and Cellphone number associated with your NASTF SDRM account
- Choose either a phone call or SMS to receive your Authy account verification code
- If your device does not automatically verify your Authy account, enter the verification code received from Step 6
- Choose NASTF towards the bottom of the screen to view your temporary 7-digit NASTF 2-factor authentication code
iPhone
- Open the App Store
- On the search tab, search for Authy
- Install the Authy app
- Open the application
- Enter the country code and Cellphone number associated with your NASTF SDRM account
- Choose either a phone call or SMS to receive your Authy account verification code
- If your device does not automatically verify your Authy account, enter the verification code received from Step 6
- Choose NASTF towards the bottom of the screen to view your temporary 7-digit NASTF 2-factor authentication code
Additional Notes
- The 7-digit NASTF 2-factor authentication code is active for 20 seconds. After 20 seconds a new code will be generated.
- When entering your NASTF 2-factor authentication code do not use spaces. The spaces are provided for extra readability.
The next steps are to submit your documentation and complete your application.
Once you have your documents on your computer and are ready to upload them, follow these steps below:
Step 1: Agreeing to the program rules. Please read the user agreement, and if you agree, check the checkbox labeled "I understand that I am agreeing to the policies above and I will ..." and click Agree and Continue.
Step 2: Documentation. On step 2 you will fill out your business information, personal information, and upload copies of required documentation listed below.
Proof of Identification - A colored copy of your current valid U.S. or Canadian driver's license.
Proof of Employment/Ownership - W4s and W9s are not accepted. You may upload a current W2 (with the last 4 digits of SSN redacted), a current pay stub, a current dated letter signed/dated by the HR department of the corporation identifying the employee by name and current work location, or a current dated business document listing the applicant as the owner of the company. Documents cannot be more than a year old and must confirm the applicant is a full time W2 (not contracted/1099) employee of the business or confirm ownership.
Business License / Business Document - NASTF requires documentation to show your business is currently active and in good standing with your state. Examples of the documentation NASTF can approve include:
- A Notice of Good Standing from your Secretary of State for the business, dated and signed the current year.
- A screenshot from your state website showing the business in active or good standing, showing the date the screenshot was captured.
- A business license issued by your county/city/state dated the current year for the business.
- A sales tax certificate/permit from the city/county/state for your business, dated and signed for the current year.
- An annual tax return can also be accepted, dated and signed for the current year by a preparer.
Copy of Locksmith License - If you are a locksmith and your state requires a locksmith license you will need to provide a clear copy of the locksmith license for review. If you do not require a locksmith license, please skip uploading a document. If you are not a locksmith or operating as a mobile technician, you will not need to upload a locksmith license. The sub-account requirements are only necessary if you are intending to add employees under your primary account, which will be available after you've been approved for VSP credentials.
Certificate of Insurance - Due to NASTF's new insurance policy the certificate of insurance needs to be sent by the insurance agent. Please have your insurance agent email a copy of your current certificate of insurance to COI@nastf.org for review and include you on the message for confirmation of when the document is sent and received. NASTF requires Primary Account Holders maintain at least a $1 million aggregate / $500,000 per event Commercial General Liability policy. Be sure to confirm the business name and address on all documentation matches the business name and address listed on the account and that NASTF, Wheat Ridge, CO is listed as either the Certificate holder or as additionally insured.
Step 3: Professional references and Criminal History. Please enter the first and last name of two professional references along with their phone number. Please note: References that are family members or companies with an 800 number and no contact name will be rejected.
Step 4: Payment.
Item | Amount | Term |
Application Fee | $100.00 | Two Year Renewal |
Primary Account | $335.00 | Two Year License |
Once you have submitted your application and it has been paid for, the NASTF Registry Management Team will review your account and notify you via email if there are any problems with your application or documents. This process typically takes 2-3 weeks to be approved.
Following your approval, you will receive further instructions on how to use your NASTF credentials.
